Our Mission
At PAD (Present Authentic Development) Mental Health Counseling, our team of LMHCs and pre-licensed mental health counselors base our work on the belief that connection and collaboration are essential to effective therapy.
By honoring each client’s authentic voice, aspirations, and strengths, we work together to explore challenges such as anxiety, depression, trauma, perfectionism, and life transitions. Drawing from a combination of talk and experiential therapies, we value curiosity, humor, and openness in our work, encouraging clients to reconnect with their inner wisdom and navigate life’s complexities with greater clarity and confidence.

We try to make the process as simple as possible! After making an appointment, someone from our team will email you. This may be directly from the therapist you chose, or from our Info account who will put you in touch with a therapist that will be able to work with you.
Your therapist will send you our electronic paperwork and either provide you a link to their virtual room, or instructions to the office.
Your therapist will be your main point of contact for scheduling, but you can email us if you would like to work with a different therapist. If you have any questions about billing, please email us anytime.

We can accept Aetna, Cigna, and 1199SEIU in-network, as well as EmblemHealth (HIP commercial only) and Tricare (East Region only). You should expect your standard copay with each of these insurances, pending deductibles determined by your insurance plan.
If you have any other insurance, you should inquire with them if you have out of network benefits. Depending on your out of network deductible and financial situation, we may still be able to work with you.

Not everyone has a deductible with their insurance. If you do, it is a set rate that is determined by your insurance plan that needs to be met before your insurance starts covering any amount of your sessions. We have to charge the rate we are contracted with your insurance in full each session you are in deductible.
For example, let’s say you have a deductible of $1000.
If you have Aetna insurance, you will be charged $124.32 for the intake, $123.08 for a 53-60 minute session, and $96.96 for a 45 minute session. So your $1000 deductible should take 10 sessions. The smaller the deductible the faster your insurance will begin covering all of or a portion of your sessions.
These per session rates change depending on the insurance company.

Possibly! It will depend on their current availability and whether or not your schedules align. Some of our counselors are only in the office on certain days or have limited availability. Our licensed counselors would meet with you for a consultation call and determine whether you would be a fit for them or one of our other clinicians.
If you ever want to see someone other than your clinician, just let us know. We are happy to accommodate.

Advanced Clinical Intern is our term for our clinicians who are in the process of receiving their master’s degree in mental health counseling. They are considered advanced because of the extensive supervision and training we offer, making them equipped to work with most clients.
Many people enjoy working with counselors who are newer to the field because of the dedication that they bring to everything they do, compared to some seasoned therapists who are burnt out or jaded. However, if you are not comfortable working with an Advanced Clinical Intern, please let us know and we could explore options for post-graduate clincians.
