Meet Skyler

Skyler Funkhouser, Advanced Clinical Intern

I believe therapy should be a safe and supportive space where you can slow down and show up as yourself. My style is person centered and strength based, which means I focus on building genuine connections and helping you recognize the resilience you already carry. I also take a holistic approach, weaving in mindfulness to bring calm and presence, and drawing from psychodynamic ideas to explore how past experiences may shape your life today.

I especially enjoy working with children, teens, and young adults navigating anxiety, ADHD, and life transitions. Many of the people I work with describe feeling overwhelmed, stuck in old patterns, or unsure of how to move forward. Together, we’ll create space for curiosity, uncover what’s working, and build new ways of coping that feel realistic and supportive in your daily life.

I am a therapist in training in Northwestern University’s master’s counseling program. Before stepping into this role, I spent years in education and nonprofit work supporting youth, which shaped my passion for resilience and empowerment. Those experiences continue to guide how I show up with clients today, with curiosity, compassion, and a deep respect for their stories.
